The event is SPONSORED by the WOMEN's STUDIES PROGRAM at HUNTER.
An event using texts and visuals to highlight the different ways that people are detained & imprisoned in diffferent parts of the world in the name of "security." The emphasis will be on Palestine/Israel, US/Mexico, Pakistan/India, & Guantanamo.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES: 12 noon-10pm
*TABLING by various progressive & grassroots organizations in NYC working on those areas.
*VISUALS (photographs, arts, drawing, & graffiti area);
*VIDEOS (showing documentaries throughout the day);
*T-SHIRT student project (depicting stories of immigrants, detainees, etc);
*PUPPET INSTALLATION (a checkpoint? crossing the border? Work in Progress);
*THEATRE/DANCE performances (mostly in the evening after 6pm, organized in part by THAW).
