Since 2007, Adalah-NY has participated in multi-city protests of Israeli cultural groups’ performances in the US and Canada, including the Batsheva Dance Company (2009, 2010, 2012), the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (2011), Idan Raichel (2011), and the Israel Ballet (2010). We have also participated in national and international campaigns calling on Leonard Cohen, Pete Seeger, and other artists to not play apartheid.

Adalah-NY has also conducted presentations and workshops on cultural boycott to encourage local artists to join the global campaign, including a panel featuring Judith Butler and John Greyson during the 2011 Israeli Apartheid Week, “How Now BDS? Media, Politics and Queer Activism,” and a public discussion on “Why Cultural Boycott” in 2010 with Riham Barghouti and Hana Awwad of El-Funoun Palestinian Popular Dance Troupe.

In November 2014, Adalah-NY launched a pro-active cultural boycott campaign to amplify the Palestinian call for cultural boycott. Adalah-NY released a video of major artists connected to New York City calling on their fellow artists to uphold the Palestinian call for the cultural boycott of Israel. Artists and cultural workers are invited to join the movement by signing the Adalah-NY pledge in support of the Palestinian call for cultural boycott.
